Bendigo is the perfect location to be based to explore the surrounding attractions and the beauty of Victoria.

Situate only 30 minutes away from Bendigo in Victoria’s Central Highlands, at the foot of Mount Alexander, Harcourt Valley is home to a small and spirited rural community.

It’s early history as Australia’s apple centre is still evident in the orchards and is the basis of a yearly community celebration called Applefest. Each March, when the new season’s apples are ready for picking, thousands of visitors gather for everything associated with apples from; apple pie, quality ciders and plenty of fun.

In recent times, Harcourt has found new fame for wine, and there are multiple acclaimed and award winning vineyards in and around the valley, including Harcourt Valley Vineyards.

Harcourt Valley Vineyards

Probably Bendigo’s most awarded winery with over 500 medals and 35 trophies. It is the oldest vineyard in the vicinity and produces some of the region’s best wines and has a current 5-star rating by James Halliday.

Harcourt Valley Vineyard produces some of the biggest and most highly flavoured wines you will find anywhere in the region. The mature grape vines, planted in 1976 are the basis for producing superb handcrafted wines.

The Wines

Harcourt Valley Vineyards produce an extensive range of top quality wines and unusually beer and also ginger beer.

The wines produced are riesling, chardonnay, rose, GSM, malbec, shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, cabernet sauvignon / franc / malbec.

  • Chardonnay

The Harcourt Valley Chardonnay is made in a lightly oaked style, seeing wood for only 6 weeks during fermentation and then transferred to tank for bottling. The wine has a light golden hue, a hint of french oak and citrus aromas.

  • Riesling

An off dry style wine displaying lifted floral aromas, followed by a slightly sweet palate with hint of lime citrus and plenty of acidity. Great for spicy food and cheese dishes.

  • Grenache Shiraz Malbec

The GSM blend is fruity, light and well balanced. It has interesting aromas of cherry and blackberry. The wine is not matured in oak and is packed full of flavour including mixed berries with a savoury finish.

  • Malbec

The vines are approaching 30 years old and are providing some exceptional fruit. The Malbec is matured in american oak hogs heads. It gives a combination of soft fruit flavours and smokey vanilla from the wood which produces a unique flavoured wine.

  • Shiraz

The excellent fruit produced on the deep red Cambrian soil crafts the wine with a deep red hue that you might expect. It has medium weight with surprising softness and elegance. The use of French and American oak gives some vanilla characters to the dark fruit flavour of the wine.
